Long Shot has been redesigned by Sydney-based design studio loopcreative.

Collins Street espresso bar, Long Shot, has transformed into a 250sqm coffee shop after being redesigned by loopcreative (Chur Burger, Sydney airport; KOI Dessert Bar, Chippendale; Riva Reno Gelato, Barangaroo). 

The Sydney-based design studio is responsible for the master planning of 3,000sqm of hospitality and retail venues for Stage 2 Collins Square and the upcoming refurbishment at Left Bank at Melbourne’s South Bank.

As the fourth venue for Melbourne’s Collins Square development, Long Shot joins Bar Nacional, Chiara Restaurant and Collins Square Catering, with more venues to be announced next year.

The refurbished espresso bar has a sophisticated design to cater for the corporate clientele who frequent the precinct. Imported Italian marble, European lighting, black subway tiles, oak timber tables and leather chairs have helped to create a cool European aesthetic. The brand’s trademark crossed fingers logo has been transformed into a light emblem that now illuminates the espresso bar and other spots around the venue.

The space is divided into three main areas catering to the differing needs of the clientele from morning meetings to light lunches. There’s an espresso bar and patisserie counter for those looking for a grab-and-go early morning option; an open kitchen providing spaces for counter lunches; and a more formal 60-seater restaurant for those wanting to enjoy a more relaxed long lunch or function.

Rod Faucheux, director of loopcreative, said:  “The challenge here was to mature and grow Long Shot from its roots as a tiny espresso bar into something that could cater for more customers without losing its original charm and of course Melbourne’s discerning coffee drinkers. As part of the transition phase, a pop-up was installed while construction was underway so no-one went without their morning coffee and pastry for too long.”
