Byron Bay restaurant, Cicchetti, is expanding north, opening a new site on the Gold Coast.

Launching on 17 September, Cicchetti Gold Coast is located at the shopping and dining destination Capri on Via Roma, Isle of Capri and is co-owned by Marco De Vincentiis, Luca Giacomin and Enrico Semenzato.

“We have created a mixed dining experience ranging from a more formal dining area for an intimate meal, banquet or perhaps our five course degustation however we have also created a high dining and bar area which caters for a more casual dining experience. The restaurant also lends itself to wedding receptions, corporate functions and parties where customers can have exclusive use of the space,” Giacomin said.

Seating 130 people, the restaurant’s features include Australian blackbutt wood timber tables, an expansive open kitchen, a wine room and a hero light feature consisting of 100 rose gold ball spheres all individually hanging from the ceiling.

“We wanted to keep the colours of the interior fairly minimal as we believe the colours of the food and cocktails should be the showcase, [we want] what we serve you on the table to be where your attention goes,” said De Vincentiis.

Head chef Enrico Semenzato has evolved Byron Bay’s Venetian menu, retaining some signature dishes, like the popular ‘Porchetta’ entre (thinly sliced marinated Byron Bay pork shoulder roast, ginger and capsicum jam, home-made grissini) while also creating a number of new items such as the house-made ravioli – a twist on the classic Cassiunzei, which is a traditional beetroot ravioli made in the mountains of Belluno.

“I have worked to modernise this traditional dish by adding goat’s cheese curd to enhances the sweetness of the beetroot as well as adding freshness and crunch in the form of candied walnuts and sprigs of local micro chervil,” Semenzato said.

General manager and co-owner Giacomin has evolved the Cicchetti Byron Bay wine list, which was awarded two wine glasses in both 2014 and 2015 from The Gourmet Traveller Wine List of the Year Awards, to include over 150 wines.
