Reynold Poernomo has opened a new dessert venue in Ryde, which will be the Poernomo family’s second venue since opening KOI Dessert Bar Chippendale in 2016.

Poernomo will open KOI Dessert Kitchen Ryde in partnership with his brothers Arnold and Ronald and their mother Ike, who wanted a space where she and her sons could share their knowledge.

The venue's chic and neutral interiors contrast to their Chippendale origin, featuring a large space flooded with natural light, marble bench tops and touches of wood elements throughout.  The 180sqm venue, designed Sydney-based studio loopcreative, was created around the concept of operating as a caf and class room.

The facility will function as a production and catering kitchen for the KOI Dessert Bar in Chippendale, as well as catering for in-house cooking classes and training. A small caf, where diners can watch a bird’s eye view of behind the scenes operations, is attached to the venue.

“The brief was to create a commissary and production kitchen that caters to the expansion and growth of the KOI Dessert Bar brand in a space that allows customers to experience first-hand the delicate touches of the pastry chefs hard at work,” said Rod Faucheux, director at loopcreative.

KOI Dessert Kitchen Ryde will offer classes hosted by Reynold Poernomo and other Sydney chefs and bakers.
