Rockpool Dining Group has announced it’s opening a new concept at the Kings Co-op food precinct, currently under construction at the Brisbane Showgrounds.

Due to open later this year, the first Rockpool Dining Group and Urban Craft Brewing Co. collaboration, located at the northern corner of King Street, will occupy one of the Ekka buildings – the revitalised Royal Snack Bar.

The design of the as-yet-unnamed venue will reflect a mix of rustic and modern styles utilising the existing architecture, landscape and reclaimed materials from pavilions within Brisbane Showgrounds.

Project director for the Brisbane Showgrounds, Andrew Hay said the new concept will be a fantastic addition to Brisbane’s new precinct.

“We are thrilled to welcome award-winning restaurateurs, Rockpool Dining Group, to our precinct. Brisbane is already very familiar with their amazing restaurants, Sak Restaurant & Bar, Bavarian Bier Caf, Fratelli Famous, and the soon to open Burger Project, which will be a first for the city, and we cannot wait for people to experience their exciting next chapter in this truly unique space.”

Rockpool Dining Group CEO Thomas Pash said Queensland represents a promising opportunity for the group’s venues.

“We believe that Queensland is fertile ground for all of our restaurant brands, from premium to casual and fast casual, with a huge appetite for new offerings amongst locals and tourists alike.”

Upon completion King Street will be home to up to approximately 40 tenancies – mostly food and beverage concepts. They include GG’s Espresso, The George, Fat Dumpling, Verde, Sushi & Nori and Hello Chicken.

The Kings Co-op is scheduled to open in time for Ekka (The Royal Queensland Show) which will run from 11–20 August, 2017.
