Martin Pirc of Punch Lane and chef Daniel Schelbert have created a welcome addition to Melbourne's food and wine scene with the opening of Saint.Urban.

Located on Swan Street, Richmond, the new venue has been designed to cater to the suburb's locals by offering a new style of culinary offering.

Having lived in the area for over two decades, Pirc and Schelbert say that the aimed to create a venue with neighbourhood charm where they could take their friends and family.

“We wanted to do as much of the design and build as possible ourselves, which really reflects in the honesty of the venue," says Pirc.

The venue boasts pared back walls and rustic floors, along with signature art-deco archways and a European style front terrace.

The menu at Saint.Urban has been designed to attract guests at all hours of the day and night and as such, Schelbert has created an approachable menu made up of classic dishes done well.

Lazy afternoon snacks on the terrace include the likes of oysters, cheese and charcuterie along with sheep’s haloumi with peppered wild figs or pork trotter croquettes, sauce gribiche. More substantial dishes are also on offer for those wishing to sit down to a three course meal.

The wine list showcases both Australian and European varieties, with sixteen offered by the glass. Constantly evolving, there are bottles aplenty under the $70 mark. Friday nights look to be a haven for wine buffs with a selection of high-end bottles opened to taste and order by the glass.

Saint.Urban is open Tuesday to Thursday from 3pm – late and Friday to Sunday 11am – late.
