I&J’s latest foodservice market innovation, Crispy Battered Fish IN Chips, was awarded Best New Foodservice Product at Fine Food 2019 in Sydney.
The product consists of a natural hand-cut ASC fish fillet placed between a layer of two potato chips on the top and another two on the bottom, then encased in batter.
The hand-assembled product is suitable for a range of menu applications. You can serve it as a grab-and-go takeaway snack, as part of a meal deal with sauce and a lemon wedge, or within a bun as a contemporary twist on the traditional chip butty.
Because it’s easy to serve and hold, it’s also an ideal option for finger food and catering, whether as a single-serve item or as part of a buffet presentation.
I&J Fish IN Chips also makes an attractive bar snack, meal entrée or component within a modern share platter or seafood basket. It’s perfect for kids’ meals and as an addition to the sports bar menu.
“Fish IN Chips has been developed as an innovative product that brings together the two great Aussie favourites of fish and chips in a contemporary presentation style that’s immediately appealing to customers,” says David White, Executive Chef at Simplot Australia which owns the I&J brand.
“Simplot has built a strong reputation for both our I&J fish and Edgell fries products so what could be more natural than to combine the two and create something that captures the attention of today’s consumer?”
David attributes Fish IN Chips’ win of Best New Foodservice Product at Fine Food Australia 2019 to its innovative, contemporary presentation, quality and versatility of application.
“As an eye-catching new product, it’s already generated a lot of interest. You can serve it in so many ways – from three per bucket with a dipping sauce for fish and chips shops to a cocktail party item in a sporting or entertainment venue. And if you take it out of the fryer and toss through your own spice mix or rub, you can create your own distinctive flavour and presentation style to suit your venue.”
I&J Fish IN Chips comes in cartons of 100 Individually Quick Frozen 50g portions, so you only use what you need – just deep-fry or oven bake from frozen and it’s ready in minutes, with a hold time of 20-30 minutes
