On Sunday 15 May, modern Asian restaurant Salaryman, will host Ramen Wars Volume One.
Salaryman head chef Stephen Seckold will hand over his pans for the evening to Silvereye’s head chef Sam Miller and sous chef Tom Halpin who will go head-to-head with John Javier of Master to create the perfect bowl of ramen.
With no prior experience creating ramen, Noma veterans Miller and Halpin, will give the dish Silvereye’s experimental twist, with an intriguing smoked eel and ox tongue interpretation.
“The faceoff with John Javier is going to prove a challenge, but one we are looking ever so forward to. Let the battle begin,” said Miller.
Master’s Javier is claiming to play it safe, stating ramen is the epitome of comfort food for him. Formerly of Quay and Momofuku, Javier will work with traditional Asian flavours, promising an ‘interesting’ bowl of ramen.
On the challenge of going head-to-head with the Silvereye team, Javier said “Sam Miller and Tom 'The Iron Chef' Halpin are worthy opponents – I'm coming for them.”
Ramen Wars is the brainchild of Seckold and Volume One will be one of many where the public can decide the winning bowl of ramen.
Ramen Wars Volume One bookings available between 3pm–8pm and can be made at the Salaryman website.
