Launching on 1 March, the Feast of Merit Rooftop bar will offer a Middle Eastern inspired snack menu as well as locally sourced wine and beer.
The bar is housed above Richmond’s Feast of Merit restaurant, which is owned and operated by YGAP. Opening in 2014, the restaurant is a social enterprise, with all profits raised through restaurant revenue used to support local entrepreneurs in Australia, East Africa, South Africa and the Pacific, who are significantly improving the lives of people living in poverty by helping to improve their income, shelter, education and/or health.
One of the bar’s substantial partners is Coopers Brewery, which will supply its pale ale and Brooklyn Lager, both poured on tap. Brews from Port Melbourne based brewery, Quiet Deeds, will also be on offer. Wines from Victorian wineries including the Yarra Valley and Grampion regions as well as South Australia’s Clare Valley, King Valley, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley will be showcased.
The rooftop’s menu will include a selection Middle Eastern snacks including cured Tasmanian ocean trout with ras el hanout, spiced organic almonds with chickpeas and Merguez sausages with labneh.
Richmond company, Siren Design is responsible for the fit-out, donating its efforts to craft an intimate space that has sustainability and authenticity front of mind. A modern colour palette of deep greys and black is offset with fresh white. Greenery and festoon lighting has been incorporated to brighten the space.
