The team behind Sydney’s Sugarcane restaurant has opened another venture just around the corner from the popular south east Asian diner, a chicken shop called Juicy Lucy.
Like its older sibling, Juicy Lucy has a south east Asian influence, with the ‘Aunt Lucy’ slow roasted whole birds spiced overnight in brine of Sichuan pepper, cloves, cassia bark and coriander seeds, then stuffed with garlic rice. Another offering is the Tai Gai Yang, butterflied and prepped with garlic, coriander, white pepper and fresh turmeric before going into the rotisserie. The menu also includes burgers and wraps such as a the Jackie Chan wrap with rice, Malay chicken, pickles and herbs and the Lil Kim burger with slaw, kimchi and Korean BBQ.
The venue is headed up by owners Milan Strbac and Griff Pamment, who have created an Asian style tapioca batter for the fried drummettes and chicken tenders.
Salads change daily and include a rotating line-up of specials including Asian coleslaw, green papaya salad and the Asian Caesar.
Catering to both eat-in and takeaway customers, Juicy Lucy is open from 11am til late, Monday to Saturday.
