A new Americana-style ‘Smoke Joint’, retail deli and beer garden, Up in Smoke, has opened in Melbourne’s Footscray.
Launched by the team behind 8bit burgers, Up in Smoke will specialise in barbecued, smoked and slow cooked meats as well as imported and local craft beers.
Diners can eat-in or take-away, with the restaurant seating 60 people indoors and another 70 in the street-side beer garden.
The adjoining retail store will sell coffee, deli items, dry- and smallgoods, meat for smoking and smoking accessories.
The menu is based around a $20,000 Texas Yoder Frontiersman offset smoker, which is visible from the dining room.
‘Smalls’ menu items include Tongue and Cheeks croquettes; meat loaf bun; and daily tacos. ‘Smoker’ items include brisket, pulled pork, beef ribs or a pork rack, each served with a milk pun and pickles. Sides range from mac and cheese to chilli mayo slaw and ‘burnt end’ beans. A range of grilled sandwiches are also on offer.
The venue has 10 beers on tap as well as a range of bottled and canned brews. The beverage list also includes whisky, bourbon, rum as well as a “small and fun” cocktail selection.
