The group behind Surry Hills pubs the Dove & Olive and Keg & Brew has announced its takeover of Randwick favourite, The Dog (Duke of Gloucester).
According to a statement announcing the takeover, The Good Beer Company will “bring a feel of New Orleans to the eastern suburbs” with plans to give the interior design, food and beverage list a makeover in time for Christmas.
The menu will have a French influence, with dishes including po’boys, steak frites, beef bourguignon, deep fried camembert sticks and steak served with caf de Paris butter. Brunch offerings will include omelettes, eggs benedict and croquet monsieurs/madames.
The Dog, which has a 2am licence, a large courtyard and both upstairs and downstairs dining areas, will also be home to 58 tapped beers – believed to be the most taps at any venue in the southern hemisphere. Brews will include local and international craft beers, as well as “golden oldies” like Resch’s and VB.
Edge Designs, which has worked on venues including The Powder Keg, Manly Wharf Hotel and Foley Lane, will introduce new oak flooring, leather banquettes and taxidermy highlights.
