Perth will be introducing new liquor laws this weekend which will enable pubs and clubs across the city to extend their Sunday trading hours.
Under the new laws, pubs will be able to stay open until midnight – a two hour extension on their current curfew, and nightclubs will be able to trade until 2.am on Monday morning with the exception of Good Friday, Christmas Day and ANZAC Day.
In addition to extended Sunday trading hours, the Liquor Legislation Amendment Act 2015 will make it easier for beer and wine producers to sell their products in retail outlets. It also formally recognises the commissioner of police, relevant local government authorities, the executive director of Public Health and any other person/body as persons that the licensing authority may consult with when determining to impose, vary or cancel a condition of a licence.
WA Today reports that further amendments to WA’s liquor laws will be introduced to parliament in 2016.
