A restaurant in Sydney’s Inner West has been destroyed after a fire broke out inside the premises.
Located on Majors Bay Road, Concord, the fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to police, emergency services arrived at the scene at about 3.15am and were able to contain the blaze by cutting into the roof after the fire moved to the restaurant’s ceiling.
Speaking with the Sydney Morning Herald, a Fire and Rescue spokesperson said that eight fire trucks and 40 firefighters were called to the scene and that around five people were forced to evacuate their apartments. No injuries have been reported.
“The fire was threatening to spread to the restaurants either side and the residences above,” said the spokesperson.
“Our fire investigators are on scene still to try and investigate the cause.”
