Almost three months after acquiring Sydney-based restaurant booking platform, Dimmi, TripAdvisor has become the second most popular way to book restaurants online in Australia.
The nation’s top three restaurant booking sites are now:
- Dimmi
- TripAdvisor
- Qantas
On 20 May, TripAdvisor announced its acquisition of Dimmi, a move which saw the platform join TripAdvisor’s restaurant division which operates under the brand name ‘TheFork’ in Europe. According to TripAdvisor, TheFork is the leading restaurant booking platform in Europe with over 24,000 restaurant partners across 10 markets.
Dimmi CEO and Founder, Stevan Premutico, says that Dimmi is now fully integrated on the TripAdvisor platform which has a global audience of 375 million visitors per month, and that the enhancement of real-time availability and booking functionality across mobile, tablet and desktop has driven TripAdvisor’s increased ranking.
“We’re stoked to see that both local and global travellers are booking restaurants through the TripAdvisor platform more frequently,” says Premutico. “With the teams at Dimmi and TripAdvisor we are connecting more diners with our 2,500 restaurant partners, meaning more bums on seats and a boost to restaurants profit margins.”
Despite the acquisition by such a prominent global player, Premutico says that it continues to be business as usual for Dimmi, adding that nothing has changed culturally post acquisition.
“We have continued to run hard and run fast – just as we always have,” he says. “The only difference is that we’re now in a position to improve our product offerings and services for restaurants, and ensure diners are having a flawless user experience when searching and booking restaurants online.”
The most booked restaurants via TripAdvisor include:
- ARIA
- Voyager Estate
- La Luna Bistro
- Prime Steakhouse
