Melbourne chefs are getting involved in the inaugural Tour de Chef challenge, raising funds for SecondBite, a charity which aims to provide access to fresh, nutritious food for people in need across Australia.
Taking place on 27 September, the 80km road bicycle race has attracted entries from venues including Saint Crispin, Woodland House, Lupino and Rockwell and Sons, and will see chefs competing for the fastest time of the day and the coveted ‘Yellow Apron.’
Participating chefs are tasked with raising $250 for SecondBite, while also taking part in the road race, which will start at Saint Crispin in Collingwood at 8am and finish at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm in Mornington.
Tour de Chef is the brainchild of Saint Crispin owners Scott Pickett and Joe Grbac. Grbac will be representing Saint Crispin in the competition with Pickett manning the support car and providing encouragement and supplies along the way.
“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to raise money with friends and colleagues for a very worthy cause, the work that SecondBite does is second to none and we’re thrilled to be launching the inaugural Tour de Chef,” said Pickett.
