Opening in Windsor, Neptune is the brainchild of Hanoi Hannah, Tokyo Tina and Saigon Sally’s Nic Coulter and Simon Blacher, together with David and Michael Parker, owners of South American venues San Telmo and Pastuso.
The two level venue opened on 5 May and has a Mediterranean-influenced menu, as well as a drinks list comprising classic cocktails, liquors and an array of wines.
Designed by Ewert Leaf Architects, the venue boasts an outdoor-indoor atrium, an upstairs cocktail bar and a fireplace lounge.
The ground level houses Windsor’s largest bar, offering a selection of cured meats, along with a menu including grazing and more substantial items from the early afternoon into the evening. Menu items include fritto misto with sage anchovy fritters and flash fried mussels; and cannellini hummus with radish leaf pesto, as well as a more substantial offering of vegetarian dishes, sharing plates and mains. Highlights include absinthe bonito tartare with Calabrian chilli oil; market fish baked in a bag with pippies, leak and thyme; and signature pastas such as bone marrow tortellini and Aglio e Olio anchovy spaghetti.
The upstairs bar features an in-house whisky locker, and the space can be used as a function area upon request.
Guests can also purchase wine from the adjoining cellar to take home.
