Australian distillery Four Pillars Gin was awarded two Masters at the 2017 Global Gin Masters for their Spiced Negroni gin and Navy Strength gin.
The competition was judged by 16 experts at The Holy Birds restaurant and bar in London in a blind tasting. The gins were divided by category along with price and variety.
Each expression was judged on its own merit and scored according to appearance, nose, taste and overall balance.
Four Pillars Gin reigned supreme in the Contemporary round, which focused on less-traditional flavours. Judge Cherry Constable, freelance wine and spirits writer, commended the “soft, elegant and clean texture” of the gin.
The Navy Strength gin was awarded Master status in the Navy Strength category for the third year running. Described by the judges as having “wow factor”, the category featured expressions bottled at or above 57 percent abv.
“I am absolutely pumped with those results,” said Four Pillars distiller and co-founder Cameron Mackenzie.
“It’s amazing to see the Navy Strength continuing to impress the judges year after year, and for the Spiced Negroni to be recognised as Master status as well is unreal – especially among such a high calibre of gins. It’s a massive testament to the whole team at Four Pillars.”
