Windsor restaurant, Saigon Sally, will close its doors on 3 September to make way for a new Thai diner named BKK.
The second venue for the Commune group, which also operates Tokyo Tina and Hanoi Hannah, Saigon Sally launched in 2013.
“It’s goodbye for now — but not forever — as we’re keeping our eyes peeled for a CBD or interstate site for Sally. We’d like to keep her spirit alive in the meanwhile so you’ll be seeing some signature dishes pop up on the menu at Hanoi Hannah,” says co-owner, Simon Blacher.
“We have a very loyal clientele and we want to keep them stimulated and inspired. This is why we have decided to re-invent the restaurant offering after close to five years.”
From late September, BKK will offer authentic Thai dishes crafted by head chef Sean Judd (ex-Nahm, Longrain, and Chin Chin).
Highlights will include gai yang, turmeric and lemongrass chicken cooked over smoke and som tam tod, a crispy papaya salad that’s sweet, sour and spicy.
The space itself will be fully refurbished with plans for a cocktail bar and function space before Christmas.
“BKK will be completely different to Saigon Sally and we’re really excited to create a fresh offering for our diners. Sean’s talent lies with Thai cuisine so we wanted to allow him to follow his passion.”
BKK will be open Wednesday until Sunday from 5.00pm.
