An Asian restaurant and street food precinct, 8 Street, will open on Cavill Lane in December this year.
The new precinct will feature a range of Asian cuisines including Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Thai, and Indian, with dishes such as BBQ duck, dumplings, dim sum, pho, bibimbap, banh mi, and rice paper rolls all on the cards.
Curating the food and beverage offering is David Wu, who has operated 8 Street in Brisbane’s Westfield Garden City since 2014.
“8 Street at Cavill Lane will be inspired by the true Asian street food experience of delicious flavours, great value and theatrical cooking,” says Wu.
“We want to create a loud and bustling traditional hawkers’ market, where diners can wander among open kitchens and be drawn in by the sights and sounds, then watch as their dish is created before their eyes. It will be like stepping into Asia in the heart of Surfers Paradise.”
Owner of Cavill Lane, Phillip Wolanski, said 8 Street will create an authentic Chinatown-style experience on the Gold Coast.
“Asian cuisine in all its variations has certainly embedded itself in Australian culture, and we expect 8 Street at Cavill Lane to become a very popular destination for local families and visitors,” says Wolanski.
The first stage of 8 Street at Cavill Lane is expected to open to the public in December 2017.
