Sam Prince Hospitality Group (SPHG) has announced their new venue, Kid Kyoto.
Set to open in spring, Kid Kyoto will offer a rebellious take on Japanese cuisine, inspired by the sounds of the ’80s and ’90s.
Located on Bridge Lane, the venue will join SPHG’s other city-dining offerings; Mexican at Mejico and Sri Lankan and southern Indian at INDU.
The menu will push the boundaries of contemporary Japanese cooking with the restaurant design reflecting its bold, unashamed attitude.
Kid Kyoto’s concept has been developed in consultation with Dr Sam Prince’s friend Eriko Matsuda, a Tokyo local hailing from Osaka. Matsuda works closely with the team, inspiring and consulting on everything from menu and design to dashi and sake.
“The whole restaurant will be influenced by the soundtrack we listened to whilst visiting Japan,” says restaurant director Richard Prout.
“We want the restaurant to appeal to those who love Japanese food, but also who love the music of this era as well. Guests will come for the food and stay because they hear that song that reminds them of a particular time in their life.”
Joining Prout are head chef Seb Gee (China Doll, China Diner) and general manager Jessica Duncan (Jamie’s Italian).
Kid Kyoto will open for lunch and dinner.
