Kid Kyoto will open its doors on 20 November 2017. The new 120-seater restaurant from Sam Prince Hospitality Group (SPHG) will offer izakaya-style dining, with the menu inspired by music from the 80s and 90s.
“Music is much more than just the added seasoning to our restaurant. At Kid Kyoto it wrote the menu — it’s the inspiration behind the overall restaurant concept, the use of ingredients and the experience each dish delivers. Our menu is the debut album with the chefs as the rock stars,” says Karen Westfield, COO for SPHG.
Starters will include blackened oyster with pickled ginger, umeboshi mayonnaise and kimchi granita and smoking salmon with wasabi pea and nori, while mains will include Black Hole Sun pork belly with nori jam, apple and pickled radish.
The Kid Kyoto experience menu, ‘In Bloom’, offers a guided journey through 10–12 seasonally selected dishes inspired by the music, available only at the 10-seater chef’s table.
The drinks menu will include a comprehensive wine selection, Japanese and local craft beers, and a large selection of premium sakes, whiskeys and gin. Working closely with Archie Rose distillery, a cocktails will include the Kid Kyo-tini, featuing Archie Rose KK blended gin, Noilly Prat, Junmai sake and homemade fennel and edamame shrub; and the Japanese Combo, with Campari, Amaretto, coffee infused Beefeater and tobacco syrup.
Pinnacle Commercial Interiors have been carrying out the refit of the heritage-listed site on Bridge Lane in Sydney’s CBD. The interior design includes raw materials such as polished concrete, exposed ceiling and brickwork with punk-inspired art and music taking centre-stage.
