The team behind acclaimed Burleigh Heads restaurant Rick Shores have opened the doors to their latest venture, Little Valley.
Located in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, the venue features a 70-seat dining hall specialising in “neo-Chinese” cuisine, alongside an open-air bar and beer garden.
This isn’t the group’s first foray into Brisbane, with their chicken-focussed pub The Coop Bistro located just around the corner.
Rick Shores head chef Jake Pregnell leads the Little Valley kitchen, devising a menu that combines traditional Asian flavours with modern twists.
Pregnell brings years of experience to the restaurant, including a stint at Spirit House on the Sunshine Coast and later at Spice Temple and Bistro Guillaume.
Little Valley’s menu is divided into dim sum, raw bar and cold cuts, salads, rice, meats and wok. Highlights include lobster har gow, chilli crab xiao long bao, kung pao mushrooms and cured scallop with spiced pumpkin seed and chilli oil.
The 110-strong wine list features classic international wine styles as well as a diverse range of Australian producers. The cocktail list also champions Australia producers, while incorporating Chinese flavours and local produce.
Cocktail highlights include the “Imperial Haze”, a twist on a gin classic cocktail, with chamomile flowers and smoked bush honey and “Dynasty Moon”, a cooler of Brookies Byron Bay Gin, lychee, native hibiscus and Adelaide Hills Distillery vermouth.
Little Bistro is open for dinner and late night service Wednesday through to Sunday, with lunch also on offer from Friday to Sunday.
