Bourke Street Bakery is set to open its first international location, joining the wave of Australian cafes taking over New York City.
According to Eater New York, the 50-seat venue will open in Nomad sometime before November 2018, offering all-day counter-service. Paul Allam, who founded the business with David McGuinness in 2004, will run the new site alongside wife Jessica Grynberg.
While the menu will feature some additions unique to its location (think pecan pie and peanut butter and jam croissants), the Bourke Street Bakery ethos remains unchanged with everything to be made onsite. The famous pork and fennel sausage rolls will also be on offer, as will high-quality Australian-style coffee.
As in Australia — where Bourke Street Bakery has established initiatives like The Bread and Butter Project — the business will continue to focus on providing a bakery that has a positive impact on its local community.
More to come.
