Three Blue Ducks have announced their fifth venue — Locura — which is set to open its doors this weekend.
Previously known as LaLa Land, the bar will now offer Latin American-inspired fare spearheaded by Darren Robertson, Andy Allen, Mark LaBrooy, Chris Sorrell, Sam Reid and Jeff Bennett, who recently travelled to Mexico on a research trip.
The menu will showcase cuisine influenced by Mexico, Costa Rica and Peru, with dishes covering seafood, ceviches, tacos and salads.
“We wanted to do something a little different this time around, and our trip to Mexico was super inspiring to learn more about the culture and food,” says Robertson. “[There will be] plenty of seafood and a couple of different tacos and salads all seasoned with salts and spices. We’ll have fermented hot sauces, rubs and salsas as well as daily specials.”
Bartender Tim Phillips has joined the team and designed a cocktail list that works with the menu. Mezcal-based mules with kombucha, a Ducks take on michelada, and homemade tepache (fermented pineapple) using leftover pineapple skins from juicing will all be on offer.
The wine list will feature organic, biodynamic and natural wines along with local and international beers.
