Brokenwood Wines will open its new Hunter Valley cellar door on Saturday 8 December after an $8 million development.
The space has been under construction for the past year and is one of the largest cellar doors in the Hunter valley region, sitting at 1,400 square metres.
“The new offering will provide customers with a world-class experience and allow more people to taste our wines than ever before,” says managing director and chief winemaker Iain Riggs. “This is a monumental step in our brand’s history and we are beyond excited.”
The cellar door will feature a large tasting room complete with designated tasting pods, an outdoor terrace, two private tasting rooms, two private dinign rooms, a wine museum and lounge area.
Andrew and Janet Wright (The Cellar Restaurant at Hunter Valley Gardens) will be running two dining venues — Cru Bar + Pantry and The Wood Restaurant — that will serve Brokenwood wines.
The Wood Restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday and focus on a seafood offering. Menu items include salt cod fritters, market fish with Stormy Bay clams and fresh oysters.
Cru Bar + Pantry will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving homemade pies, wood-fired pizzas, cheese, charcuterie and snacks.
