The World Association of Master Chefs has launched the first official chapter in Melbourne.
There are 60 chapters located across the globe, with the Melbourne outpost the first in the Pacific region.
According to the Association, a major consideration was “diverse culture and hospitality environment and “amazing local foods and wines”.
Budding chefs will also be able to join the association, where they will be offered unique opportunities.
“The opening of this office will be marked with the re-launch of our updated International Internship Program which means Junior Chefs and Students of Hospitality can take advantage of global experiences in other countries working with elite chefs,” says Gaven Ferguson, president of the Association.
“The great advantage to this new program is that it is fully funded for the applicant. With an office now in Australia we anticipate the opportunity for young aspiring chefs to be extensive and we look forward to working with the industry and the Australian people.”
