The Younes family will not be launching Ura San at Campbell’s Stores in The Rocks, Sydney.
Ura San, which was announced in February this year, was set to provide a traditional omakase experience with executive chef Nobuyuki Ura at the helm. It was expected to launch in mid-2019.
“Due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, we are no longer progressing with plans to open Ura San, a Japanese restaurant at Campbell’s Stores in The Rocks,” says owner Bill Younes.
“We are still opening an exciting new restaurant concept, The Rocks Seafood, at the precinct later this year. Led by Head Chef John Pye, the 260-seat restaurant will showcase Australia’s beautiful and bountiful seafood and local wines.”
Further details of The Rocks Seafood will be announced soon.
Ura San is the second venture to fall through at Campbell’s Stores. In October 2017 Venetian Republic was the first venue to be announced for the precinct, but owner Nino Zoccali (La Rosa The Strand, The Restaurant Pendolino) pulled the plug before opening, with the lease terminated in August 2018.
Seagrass Hospitality’s fine dining restaurant 6Head opened in the precinct in May 2019, with more openings slated for this year.
