US-based delivery platform DoorDash is set to enter the Australian market.
While DoorDash has not confirmed an official launch date, a spokesperson told the SMH the company is “continually assessing new opportunities”.
The company has posted a number of job advertisements on LinkedIn, including general manger and head of business development roles based in Melbourne, and opened a Facebook page in a bid to attract drivers.
The Australian website is live with a landing page for restaurants to sign up for the platform.
DoorDash was founded in San Francisco in 2013 and has a larger market share in the US than Uber Eats.
The company is worth approximately $12.6 billion after it received a $600 million investment in May, however DoorDash came under fire in June when it was revealed the company could use all or part of customer tips to pay base rates.
The policy has since changed, with the base rate for drivers increasing from $2 USD to $10 USD per delivery plus all tips.
