Elliott Pinn has opened Rascal wine bar on Sydney Road in Brunswick, Melbourne.
Pinn was previously the head chef at Doot Doot Doot in the Jackalope Hotel and has also worked in the kitchens of Sepia and Flying Fish in Sydney.
Described as a neighbourhood bar, Rascal is located in a 150-year-old building with the space undergoing a renovation to create communal seating and an open bar.
“Rascal feels like home for us – relaxed, a bit cheeky and somewhere that we love to go to eat and drink” says Pinn. “We want it to become a love able new neighbourhood destination that is raising the bar day in and day out.”
The menu will revolve seasonally and currently lists dishes including fried chicken with caviar and hot sauce and crab toast with seaweed butter and furikake.
On the drinks front, there’s more than 120 wines covering old and new world varieties. James Gullan has designed the cocktail list which revolves around classics such as highballs. There’s also more than 50 beers and 60 spirits available.
Rascal is open Wednesday to Sunday.
