Hospitality workers in Western Australia will undergo mandatory COVID-19 hygiene training under a new initiative from the Australian Hotels Association and the WA Government.
The COVID-19 Hygiene Course is available online and must be completed by workers before their places of work reopen.
Modules covered include:
- Understanding COVID-19 and venue restrictions
- Reporting personal health issues
- Maintaining personal and work environment hygiene practices
- Reducing cross-contamination and effective cleaning and sanitising practices
All modules are specific to COVID-19.
Managers and supervisors will also complete a Hygiene officer course, which will see an officer on duty at all times once businesses are back in the swing of things.
The course is the first of its kind in Australia, and AHA WA CEO Bradley Woods says it will put operators in a front line position when venues are able to trade again.
“To ensure hospitality businesses are prepared to re-open, it is important that all staff have the necessary training and knowledge to minimise the risk for staff and customers contracting COVID-19,” says Woods.
“Hospitality venues will have an important role to play in continuing this success and getting back on the road to recovery – this training course will help ensure this occurs.”
The course can be viewed here.
