Young Gun of Wine has announced the winners of the 2020 competition via a virtual ceremony.
Five trophies were handed out across categories including Best New Act, People’s Choice, Winemaker’s Choice, Danger Zone and the Young Gun of Wine.
Dilworth & Allain (Macedon Ranges, Vic) took out the Young Gun of Wine trophy and the Best New Act award.
“This is only the second time in the 14 years of Young Gun that a maker has taken two trophies home at the one presentation,” says Rory Kent, Young Gun of Wine founder.
“Loïque and Chris are a husband and wife team that do everything from farming and making truly exceptional wines right through to the artwork that adorns the labels.”
The Danger Zone trophy was secured by 2019 Dhiaga Moscato (Swan Hill), a Victorian wine using Moscato from a little-known region and skin contact techniques. Beer hops were also added to the ferment.
Gilbert (Orange/Mudgee, NSW) took out People’s Choice and Frederick Stevenson (Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Adelaide Hills, SA) received the Winemaker’s Choice award.
2020 marks the fourteenth year of the awards which celebrates emerging talent in the wine industry.
