Australian restaurant quality wagyu purveyor Westholme has launched a hospitality support initiative in partnership with Sydney restaurants including The Botanist, The Butler, Hartsyard, Olio Kensington St, Catalina, Banksii, Bopp & Tone and Cucinetta.
Plates for Good was developed with the aim of aiding industry staff who have been impacted by COVID-19.
The initiative will see Westholme donate the purchase price of every Westholme Wagyu dish ordered at the eight participating restaurants to support the venue staff, who were unable to work during the shutdown.
“This has been a challenging time for all, but the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard,” said Hugh Killen, managing director and CEO of the Australian Agriculture Company, which produces Westholme Wagyu. “Whilst venues are starting to reopen, we cannot forget that this is still a critical time as the industry works hard to rebuild itself. They need our support now more than ever and we hope the Plates for Good initiative not only helps to give back to those staff that need it the most, but that it also helps to encourage and welcome the return of diners into restaurants across Sydney.
“We’re proud to help our food service friends by launching the Plates for Good initiative with our restaurant partners in Sydney.”
Killen said the brand’s restaurant customers had stood by us through droughts and floods over recent years. “We feel deeply for the restaurants and their staff, and are happy to show our support in return, as we face this pandemic together,” he said. “We also hope this initiative encourages more people to dine out and inject some much-needed life back into our restaurants, the people who work there and their families.”
