Hospitality operators are doing their bit to help raise funds to support Beirut.
The Lebathon initiative will see a range of experiences up for grabs via a silent auction on social media.
Bidding is now open until 6:00pm 28 August for a 20-person banquet at El-Phoenician; a private home baking session with Knafeh Bakery, a 10-person experience at Hotel Palisade’s Henry Deane and private dining at Gerard’s Bistro.
Funds will be donated to non-profit Impact Lebanon, which is aiming to raise $13 million.
Meanwhile, Kepos & Co in Sydney will host Brunch for Beirut on 22 and 23 August.
Chef and owner Michael Rantissi will create a Lebanese-inspired menu alongside a number of special guests including Almond Bar’s Carol & Sharon Salloum and Merna from Merna’s Crumpets, who will all share their stories.
Diners can choose from a mezze brunch ($40pp) or lunch ($65pp), with all proceeds donated to the Australian Red Cross 2020 Beirut Appeal.
Melbourne venue Bar Saracen recently raised over $20,000 for the Lebanese Red Cross through the Hummus Le Beirut concept, which saw venues across the city sell tubs of chef Tom Sarafian’s hummus.
