The Farm Byron Bay has been sold to publicans Fraser Short (The Sydney Collective) and Stu Laundy (Laundy Hotels) for an eye-watering $16 million, according to a report by The Sunday Telegraph.
Former owners Emma and Ben Lane launched the concept in 2013, converting a dairy farm into a food enterprise.
The Farm was put on the market earlier in the year, with price expectations around the $20 million mark.
“The owners were initially looking for an investor,” said CBRE national director Wayne Bunz. “They subsequently decided to sell (The Farm) in one line rather than just a stake in it.”
The Three Blue Ducks are one of the main food operators on the farm, which also houses other venues including a bakery, produce store, gelato shop and more.
Short told Good Food the Three Blue Ducks will continue operating as usual.
“I don’t want to get involved in the Ducks’ business,” says Short. “I see opportunity with the farm, really helping the supply chains for small farmers.”
