After almost 10 months of delays since the shopping centre development was completed in December 2019, Burwood Brickworks has finally opened its ‘Eat Street’ dining precinct to the public.
Located in the growing eastern suburb of Burwood, the neighbourhood food concept comprises nine venues spread across a day-to-night alfresco dining space.
As well as some established names in the Melbourne dining scene, the venue also contains some entirely new food concepts.
For Gami Chicken & Beer, which first opened in Melbourne’s Carnegie in 2006, its Burwood Brickworks location represents its 20th store in Victoria. Ice creamery Ben & Jerry’s has also opened a new store within the development.
Sydney-based agriculture and hospitality project Acre Farm & Eatery has also expanded its operations to Burwood Brickworks. Their new site represents one of the largest urban agriculture projects in Australia, comprising 2,500sqm of productive agriculture space and a farmhouse restaurant.
Other venues that have opened within Burwood Brickworks’ Eat Street include Ichiro Izakaya Bar, a traditional Japanese Izakaya offering; Norwood Café, a new cafe concept with a focus on sustainability; Hot Hot Pot, a Sichuan-inspired hot pot offering; Rosa Mexicano, a Mexican street food venue; Taste Hunan, a Hunanese restaurant; and New Northcote Brewhouse, a microbrewery and tavern.
“Our vision was to curate a complete dining experience in Melbourne’s east, and after almost ten months in lockdown since opening in December 2019, we’re so excited to officially launch Eat Street now,” said Burwood Brickworks Centre Manager, Eric Park.
“We can’t wait to celebrate with guests and welcome everyone to eat and enjoy new food experiences at the centre.”
