Registrations for the Diageo World Class Bartender of the Year competition are now open until midnight 17 April.
Local bartenders can enter for the chance to win the title of the nations best bartender and go on to compete in the global finals which will be held for the first time in Sydney.
This year entrants will build drinks that hero whiskey with brands such as Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Johnnie Walker Black Label, The Singleton and Talisker at the forefront.
Candidates will be tested on their ability to experiment with flavour in well-balanced and creative cocktails.
The first round will challenge bartenders to make a Johnny Walker highball using a sustainable process, ingredient or technique that promotes minimum waste.
Last year, Re-‘s Evan Stroeve took home the title of Australian World Class Bartender of the Year.
“The World Class bartending competition is an inspiring and energising journey, and I continue to take the lessons learned and friendships forged with me in my career,” says Stroeve.
“I encourage any bartender who is thinking about it to have a go and test yourself – what you can prove to yourself is extraordinary.”
The global competitions will be the first face-to-face large scale event since the first postponement in 2020.
