Andrew McConnell’s Trader House restaurant group has confirmed a new project is in the works.
The chef announced last week that he is planning to launch an intimate bar on 165 Flinders Lane in Melbourne’s CBD, just a short walk from the award-winning fine diner Gimlet.
The lease has been locked in, with Sydney-based design firm ACME (who worked on Gimlet) set to renovate the space.
There will be approximately 28 seats within the spin-off venue, which also happens to be kitchen-free.
Guests can expect the food offering to centre around freshly shucked oysters and uni, sliced jamon and a snappy cocktail list.
An official opening date will be announced in due course, but the venue is poised for a February 2023 launch.
It’s going to be a busy year for the group, which will also debut its first out-of-Melbourne project Supernormal in Brisbane.
