The Melbourne CBD’s newest pub Morris House has opened this week after a $4 million renovation.
The four-level venue hosts a NYC-style basement, ground level dining room, level one bar and terrace, plus a rooftop boasting city views.
Morris House is located at the former European Bier Cafe space, and has been designed by architect firm Red Design Group.
The seasonal, produce-driven food offering is spearheaded by Executive Chef Christian Abbott and Head Chef Andrzej Urbanik.
The menu features a collection of small share plates, charcuterie and cheese, plus modern takes on pub classics.
During the day, there’s also a line-up of bagels and burgers.
Some of the highlights off the menu include a spanner crab spaghetti with pickled chilli; lamb rump with roasted cauliflower; and a Ora King salmon with green beans, yuzu, and caviar.
Drinks wise, expect a large Agave selection on offer, along with a range of cocktails including a frozen iced VoVo margarita.
“We’re bringing all the best parts of Melbourne together in one place which means there will always be something to come and enjoy,” says Venue Manager Dylan Howlett.
“Start your night with a meal in the dining room, before heading down to the Basement Comedy Club for a show and end the evening on the rooftop with a signature cocktail.”
Downstairs, the basement comedy club hosts a roster of local talents every Friday and Saturday evening.
