Trak has swung open its doors in Adelaide’s Toorak Gardens this week in the former Grimaldi’s and Trak Cinema site.
The new culinary addition is the work of Quentin Whittle, Paul Tripodi, and Ben McLeod of Adelaide CBD restaurant Herringbone.
The name comes from an abbreviation of Toorak Gardens, and also acknowledges the Trak Cinema which was a well-known establishment from 1975.
Trak’s menu is tagged as contemporary Mediterranean with an earth-to-plate mentality and a large focus on farinaceous and locally sourced produce.
“For me, my heart lies in Mediterranean cuisine. It’s exciting, diverse, energetic and suits the SA climate and seasonality. Expect punchy, big flavours, refinement and balance,” says Whittle.
Some of the dishes on the menu include a smoked pork rillette with mustard pickle; chargrilled octopus with bitter greens; spaghetti vongole; and charred swordfish with lemon and capers.
Trak boasts a warming interior, with a feature marble bar, green leather booth seating, and black Italian tiling and walnut cabinetry.
“We wanted the restaurant to feel as warm as possible, a home away from home, so we’ve really honed in on those earthy tones and warm lighting, opting ceramic wall sconces, architectural textured walls, additional sound proofing and linen curtains.”
says McLeod.
Trak is open Tuesday to Saturday and is locate at 375 Greenhill Road, Toorak Gardens.
