The Cointreau Margarita Challenge is back for 2024 with entries now open to drink specialists across the country until 31 March.
This year, drink specialists are invited to look to the uniqueness and essence of their own city to craft their own take on the margarita.
Entrants are encouraged to utilise local ingredients; showcase innovative techniques; and present their creations in a way that reflects their city.
Creations must also use salt and a minimum of 25ml of Cointreau l’Unique.
From the entries, eight finalists will be chosen to partake in the Australian competition held on 15 April at Sydney’s Now & Then.
Entrants will be judged on their creativity and expertise by a panel which includes last year’s winner Lola Liu plus other identities across Australia’s drinks industry.
The winner of the Australian competition will go on to represent the country at the International Cointreau Margarita Challenge in Angers, France.
The Australian winner will participate in mixology challenges across the competition and will also go on a tour of the world’s best cocktail bars to showcase their creation.
