The Scott Pickett Group’s Longrain is catering to the lunch crowd with a new canteen that’s sticking around until spring.
The pop-up is located at 430 Collins Street in the former Le Shoppe space and is open from 11am until 2:30pm Monday to Friday.
Longrain’s Head Chef Long Le has put together grab-and-go dishes (but there’s a few tables for those wanting to dine in) influenced by some of the most popular dishes at the restaurant.
The crispy pork hock has been converted into a pork roll with pickles and coriander, while crispy fish fillets are served with cabbage slaw and tamarind mayo vs the whole fish.
Diners are also able to get their hands on a hot and sour poached prawn glass noddle salad and a selection of different curries from red beef to Thai chicken biryani.
Thai milk tea panna cotta and a coconut chocolate mousse are both priced at $10 for those wanting to end lunch on a sweet note.
“Our menu is all about tasty, affordable meals you can eat on the go,” says Le.
“We have thoughtfully reimagined the flavours, techniques, and presentation of Longrain classics that guests know and love without compromising on quality and authenticity.”
The space has been fitted out with a pantry area stocked with Thai ingredients for visitors to recreate their own recipes at home.
Longrain Canteen is now open.
