Sydney’s hospitality hotshots will hit the field for The Hospitality Cup, a one-day soccer fundraiser for The Big Issues’ Street Soccer Program.
The inaugural year of the Sydney competition will see some of the city’s best known hospitality names go head-to-head in five-a-side teams.
Teams will be formed with staff from Saint Peter, Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, Aria, Solotel Group, Merivale Group, House Made Hospitality Group, Love Tilly Group, Oncore by Clare Smyth, Chachii, Esca Group, Quay/Fink Group, Shell House (Point Group), Saké, Rockpool Bar and Grill, A’mare and Sam Prince Hospitality Group.
The event is a fundraiser for The Big Issues’ Community Street Soccer Program, which engages people facing homelessness and tough times to become active and social in a safe environment.
Sport Together Founder Jean-Baptiste Dumas began the competition in 2019 in Melbourne to bring the hospitality industry together.
“We want this event to have a purpose and as an industry support those in need. We’ve partnered with The Big Issue to raise funds for their Street Soccer Program and raise awareness of the important work they do to support the homeless community,” said Dumas.
Dumas’ organisation has run similar events to raise money for The Big Issue and the Kids Foundation in the past. The Hospitality Cup aims to give back to the community through partnerships with charitable organisations, while giving the industry an opportunity to network and celebrate teamwork.
The event, which is open to the public, will host 32 matches beginning at 10am and culminating in the 4:30pm grand final.
It will take place on Monday 16 September at KIKOFF Football, Canterbury.
