Brewtown Newtown, located in Sydney’s inner west, has announced the appointment of Stephen Corbett as general manager.
With over 10 years’ experience, Corbett joined the coffee institution earlier this year, leaving his role as general manager at Jamie’s Italian, which formed part of the now collapsed The Keystone Group. He’s also previously worked with Brewtown Newtown’s founder, Simon Triggs, in developing and selling specialty coffee at Gnome Caf in Surry Hills.
“As well as bringing acute coffee know-how to the role, he has a robust understanding of running a place that focuses on high volume, fresh and innovative product and excellent customer service,” Triggs said. “His focus on quality and consistency will help us take the company from strength to strength as we get ready for a year of expansion.”
“There is nowhere quite like Brewtown Newtown and I am very excited to be working alongside such experts in their fields, such Simon [Triggs] and Roaster Chris Bonney. From our collaborations with other innovators in the F&B community, to our coffee now becoming wholesale, we have a very exciting year ahead,” said Corbett.
As part of his role, Corbett will also oversee the R&D of the venue, which boasts two kitchens, an evolving menu and regular takes part in pop-ups and community collaborations.
