Melbourne institution American Doughnut Kitchen has been making treats out of a van at the Queen Victoria Market since 1950.
But that’s all about to change with a new store located at Prahran Market.
The brand is set to grow in autumn into a shopfront inspired by the van it’s called home for so long.
“This expansion has been a long-time coming and is a testament to our family’s commitment to creating moments of delight and connection,” says Belinda Donaghey, managing director.
“The new Prahran Market shop will be an open invitation to join the American Doughnut Kitchen family and discover just how much a humble jam doughnut can mean.”
The same hot raspberry plum jam doughnuts will be on offer, with customers able to watch the team cut dough, cook, and fill the doughnuts in the kitchen.
Donaghey has also hinted at possible collaborations with other producers in the market and the store will also serve coffee for the first time.
“We’re excited to share our legacy with more doughnut lovers in Melbourne’s south while still staying true to our roots as a market trader.”
Official opening date to come.
