Applejack Hospitality, the group that operates SoCal, The Botanist, The Butler and Bondi Hardware, is preparing for its Applejack Celebrates events in November.
Owned by Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll, each of the group’s four venues opened in the month of November (over the past four years), and as such the duo wants to celebrate the month with bespoke events at each restaurant.
“There is no method to our madness, all our venues just happened to open in November. It’s a happy coincidence,” said Carroll. “But November is our favourite time of the year, coming into summer, so we thought why not kick off the festive season with a proper celebration.”
At the end of the month, details of a new Applejack Hospitality venue will be announced.
The signature event of Applejack Celebrates will be the Fluoro Fine Dining dinner, held at The Butler on 17 November. In support of the not-for-profit organization One Wave, which raises funds for mental health awareness, the Applejack team is asking guests to dress in cocktail attire with “a dash of fluoro”. Each Applejack chef will present a course at the event: Elliot Anders from Bondi Hardware will be looking after the first course, followed by the second course created by Zac Smart of SoCal. Third course will be by Melissa Hobby, head chef at The Butler, and Timo Vogel from The Botanist will be taking care of dessert alongside Applejack’s group bars manager, Lachy Sturrock, who will be creating a dessert cocktail.
Each venue will roll out a series of Applejack Celebrates activities including special menus created by group executive chef, James Privett.
