Australian representatives Joshua Pelham and Harrison Caruana are set to compete in the Bocuse d’Or Grand Finale in 2021.
The pair will fly to Lyon, France, in January to battle it out for the top prize against chefs from Japan, Thailand, South Korea and Singapore.
The teams were selected for the finale based on their previous performances in the Asia Pacific competition in 2018.
“We are very excited that 2020-21 Australian candidate Joshua Pelham and commis Harrison Caruana have been invited directly to the Lyon finale in 2021,” says Tom Milligan, President Bocuse d’Or Australia.
“I am encouraged by the dedication of Josh and Harrison, who have continued to plan and train for the competition, although constrained by the health restrictions.”
The other editions of the Bocuse d’Or competition have also been rescheduled, with the Europe and Africa events set to take place in October in Estonia and Morocco respectively.
Currently, the Americas event has been cancelled, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
