Paola Toppi and the team behind Bar M will open Toppi Martin Place this October.
The late-night restaurant will revolve around Italian food and embody the essence of ‘la dolce vita’ (the sweet life), meaning good times all round.
“It feels like I’m going back to my roots during what is an exciting and hopeful time for Sydney’s CBD,” says chef and owner Paola Toppi. “Operators are investing in the area again and we have the opportunity to bring back life and energy to our city.”
Described as the cousin to Bar M (previously Bar Machiavelli), Toppi will feature three distinct spaces.
The pasta bar will offer house-made dishes made in front of guests with the cocktail bar the ideal spot for those who want to stop by for a drink and antipasti, with carpaccio, zuchinni flowers and scampi on offer.
The full restaurant experience will be available at the dining room, with the menu showcasing seafood and pasta.
Bar Manager Matteo Belkeziz has designed the beverage offering which showcases Italian wines and classic cocktails such as the Negroni and the Bellini.
“I’ve been in this industry for over three decades and am passionate about what small businesses, like ours, contribute to the diverse and vibrant cultural fabric of a city,” says Toppi. “We’re celebrating our family’s history in the area with a fresh and modern concept for the Sydney of today.”
