In January this year Kylie Kwong announced the closure of her iconic Sydney venue Billy Kwong. Now, a date for the restaurant’s final service has been revealed — Sunday 30 June.
“I would again like to thank each and every one of the talented people who have worked at Billy Kwong, our customers, the producers and our loyal partners. You have all made Billy Kwong a truly special place and for this I will be forever grateful- thank you,” says Kwong.
Details of Kwong’s next venture — also announced in January this year — are still light. While it will distill the chef’s favourite parts of Billy Kwong, the new eatery will offer a more casual experience in a smaller dining space. Collaborations with local producers and communities will remain a key feature.
“Over the coming months I will share further details about the new venture which will bring together my love of food, family and connection to the broader community at-large,” says Kwong. “For now, we hope to see you all at Billy Kwong to celebrate our final chapter.”
Billy Kwong joins two other Sydney favourites wrapping things up in June: ACME will shutter at the end of the month after five years of operation and Longrain will also close its 20-year-old Sydney venue on 30 June.
Bookings are now open.
