Brisbane restaurant Esquire and its more casual spin-off Esq will close this week, serving its last customers on Thursday, 29 March.
In its seven years of operation, Esquire received three hats and the coveted Restaurant of the Year title in Brisbane’s Good Food Guide awards.
Owner and executive chef Ryan Squires made the announcement via an email to restaurant subscribers, saying he plans to take a break before looking for new opportunities.
“I have not come to this decision lightly as I have very much enjoyed the experience but felt for a number of reasons this was the right time to close the restaurant,” he said.
“I would like to thank all those involved and who supported me, especially my hard-working and loyal staff, my parents, friends and acquaintances.
“Not to mention the countless regulars; when in the restaurant made me smile and forget about the ongoing conundrums.”
