Brown Brothers has partnered with Adam Liaw, host of SBS’s hit series Destination Flavour and winner of Masterchef season 2, to celebrate the new-look range of 1889 wines.
Named 1889 after the year John Francis Brown made his first vintage at the Milawa family winery in Victoria’s King Valley, the 1889 range includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio,Dry Rosé, Tempranillo, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fourth generation family member and Brown Brothers public relations and content manager, Caroline Brown, said the 1889 range celebrates the Brown family’s winemaking traditions, and is designed to be enjoyed and shared around the family table.
“Meals these days are all about sharing — whether it’s a special occasion or a casual meal at home, there’s often a variety of dishes and flavours on the table,” she says. “I think we have become too caught up with what wine matches to what food — a wine such as the 1889 Dry Rosé is perfect to drink across a variety of flavours.”
Liaw said he was pleased to work together with Brown Brothers to bring the values of family and shared experiences instilled in the 1889 range to life.
“Sharing makes a meal an occasion, and enjoying a drink with food is a great part of any shared meal,” he says. “Wines these days need to sit across a number of different dishes – no matter what meal you’re eating the 1889 range has got you covered. It’s the perfect range of wine for sharing with food, friends and family.”
Brown Brothers is also celebrating the launch of their fresh look 1889 packaging, released in September 2017 across all 1889 wines.
“The new-look 1889 range perfectly captures the balance of tradition and innovation in the range,” says Brown. “The 1889 wines celebrate the rich history of our winemakers, while also looking into the future with some more emerging varietals such as Dry Rosé, Pinot Grigio and Tempranillo.”
